We received this very kind email last night.  We are very proud of our officers and the assistance they provided!

-----------------------

To the wonderful staff at the Warner Robbins Police Department,

I would like to commend the officers and management that went above and beyond their responsibility to help our family in our time of need.

Today, you really don't expect people to be compassionate, understanding and willing to go out of there way to help others, but when you see it................it really gives you a renewed hope for humanity and appreciation for those people that make this crazy world better. Thank you for being there for us and giving us that hope.

Our father Ed Harley, who lives in Columbus and is 82 years old and suffers from a severe case of dementia, decided to wake up in the middle of the night on Saturday Jan. 26th and go visit his mother (who has been deceased for 25 years). He ended up in your jurisdiction (thank God) and was pulled over by one of your officers. He had no idea where he was at (100 miles from home) and needed help. If you guys had not of pulled him over, there is no telling what would have happened to him. In addition to saving our father from the unknown, you guys went out of your way to bring him and his car home for us................I can't say enough about how this wonderful gesture of kindness to him and our family has effected our lives in such a positive way. Thank you for all that you do.

The Officers that we know of that helped are Officer Mullins, Nobles, and Houston County Dispatcher Amber Clayton (hope we got that right) and the supervisor that made the decision to take him home. You guys are the best..............

Respectfully,

The Hartley / Boyd /Lisenbey  and Botiford family

Lieutenant Lee VanOsdol was named the 2012 Warner Robins Police Department Officer of the Year.

Lieutenant VanOdsol serves as squad commander for Squad 1.  He leads with clear direction and discipline tempered with common sense and compassion.  His interactions with citizens demonstrate to the officers under his charge the proper way to be a police officer.  Lieutenant Vanosdol treats all department employees, sworn and unsworn, daily, equally and respectfully, regardless of rank or social standing.

Lieutenant VanOsdol is an anchor for the Special Weapons and Tactics Team.  He faces each mission with confidence and assurance.  He maintains calm in any situation.  He is a proven team leader, tactician and trainer.

His concern for the employees goes beyond the job.  When one of our own is suffering illness or unfortunate circumstances Lieutenant VanOsdol seeks to help in any way he can.  His dedication and concern for people also carries over to his personal life.  On several occasions he and his wife have opened their home to children and young adults who were experiencing turmoil in their lives.
