Warner Robins Police Dept. to host 2ndCoffee with a Cop on December 15th

Program offers opportunity to meet local officers, discuss community issues.

WARNER ROBINS- On December 15th, officers from the Warner Robins
Police Department and community members will come together for the second time this year for Coffee with a Cop.  This is an informal gathering to discuss community issues, build relationships and drink coffee.

All community members are invited to attend. The event begins at 8AM and ends at 10AM on December 15, 2014 at Starbucks, 2729 Watson Boulevard. Please contact Public Information Officer, Jennifer Parson with questions: (478) 302-5417 or jparson@wrga.gov.

Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and
learn more about the department’s work in neighborhoods throughout the city of Warner Robins.

The majority of the time residents meet law enforcement officials during emergencies, or
emotional situations. Those situations are not always the most effective times to build
relationships within the community, and some Warner Robins residents may feel officers are
unapproachable. Coffee with a Cop breaks down those barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction in a neutral setting.

“Our first Coffee with a Cop event was very successful,” said Warner Robins Police Chief Brett Evans. “I’m looking forward to even more members of the community coming out this time.”

Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative supported by the United States Department of Justice,
Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. Departments across the country are holding
events like this in an effort to make lasting connections with the communities they serve.

The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving

relationships between police officer and community members, one cup of coffee at a time.

Holiday Safety Tips

Happy Holidays from all of us at the Warner Robins Police Department.  Around this time of year we usually see an increase in thefts.  Here are a few tips to help you stay safe and secure this season.

Remember to always be aware of your surroundings. Always lock your doors, even when your car is in your driveway.

When shopping place all store bags and items purchased in your car's trunk, so that they are out of sight to those passing by.

Don't leave your purse in the shopping cart unattended.  Try securing your purse with the child safety belt on the cart.  If someone tries to snatch your purse, the whole cart will have to come with it.

We'll have officers out in full force, both in their patrol cars and on bicycles to make sure you stay safe while out holiday shopping.

And from our Warner Robins Police Department family to yours, we hope you have a very happy and safe holiday.

Release date: December 4, 2014

The Warner Robins Police Department would like the community to know our agency is aware of the photos circulating on social media in reference to an alleged threat at Northside High School.

These photos are circulating throughout the community and creating a public alarm based on alleged threats of a planned shooting at Northside High School. We have taken this threat seriously, and both the photos and threats are being investigated thoroughly.

These photos depict teenage boys posing with a rifle.  Our agency understands that these photos and rumored threats of a school shooting are understandably creating alarm, and we want the community to know that our department is investigating the matter.

We are in constant contact with the boys in the photo as well as their parents.  Our detectives have seen and identified the guns in the pictures as airsoft guns.

In addition, our department has increased the number of officers at Northside High School, and in the surrounding area.

We ask that any information or photos be submitted directly to the Warner Robins Police Department. You can reach one of our detectives with that information at (478) 302-5380.
